Severe/Profound Micro-credentials provide a pathway to professional growth, increase employability, and develop teacher leaders. Licensed educators learn, practice, receive feedback, and demonstrate mastery of standards, leading to severe/profound certification. The four modules in the course that include: 1. Success and strategies for severe/profound educator dispositions, 2. Social, emotional and behavioral considerations, 3. Planning, and 4. Instruction.

Earning Criteria

Participants must hold current certification in mild/moderate disabilities for special education. After completing the severe/profound micro-credential, the participant will be recommended for an upgrade to a standard certification.

Standards

Certification for Severe/Profound

The OK State Board of Education will issue a 2-year provisional certificate in the endorsement area of severe/profound disabilities to individuals who have obtained a standard certificate in mild/moderate disabilities. Participants complete a state-approved micro-credential program to severe/profound endorsement within 2 years. SB 1436 Section 4(A)
