The purpose of the Oklahoma Science of Reading Academies is to increase the reading outcomes for elementary students. Through a combination of asynchronous and live sessions, participants will learn about how the brain learns to read, models to demonstrate this process, and each of the components of reading and writing in literacy development.

Earning Criteria

Successful participants will complete all online coursework (about 56 hours) and attend eight 6-hour live training sessions (48 hours). At the midway point and the end of the course, the participant will take a summative assessment in order to progress.
Standards
This course will help teachers apply best practices to better teach students the Oklahoma Academic Standards for English language arts.
