Outdoor Recreational Safety Professional

The Outdoor Recreational Safety Specialist badge provides those who are interested in working in the recreational setting an opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to keep individuals safe during all types of recreational activities. Individuals will have the opportunity to earn a variety of certificates through the American Red Cross throughout the completion of this badge. Must earn a C to obtain the badge.

Earning Criteria

1. Recognize how to respond to different emergency scenarios that may occur in every day life. 2. Identify how to perform life saving techniques in aquatic type situations. 3. Recognize how to respond to different emergency scenarios that may occur out in the wilderness. 4. Recognize the appropriate way to safely guide individuals of any level through a ropes course.

Complete HED 2212: FirstAid/Responding to Emergencies at a C (70%) or better.

Complete PED 1201: Aquatic Activities - Lifeguarding Skills at a C (70%) or better.

Complete REC 3553: Wilderness First Aid at a C (70%) or better.

Complete PED 1081: Beginning Ropes Course at a C (70%) or better.

Complete PED 1081: Advanced Rope Course at a C (70%) or better.
