Intercollegiate Speech and Debate

Badge earners will participate in experiential learning through intercollegiate speech and debate tournaments. Earners will develop and deliver competitive speeches in multiple formats, apply advanced argumentation theory, conduct focused research on complex issues, provide/receive constructive feedback, and compete in tournaments professionally.

Earning Criteria

Badge earners must complete the following courses: COMM 2231 Intercollegiate Forensics OR COMM 2232 Intercollegiate Forensics with a grade of ‘C’ or higher.
Develop and deliver structured, compelling speeches in multiple formats.
Apply advanced argumentation theory in formal debate rounds.
Conduct focused, efficient research on complex topics.
Provide and receive constructive peer feedback.
Compete in intercollegiate speech and debate tournaments with professionalism.
