Early Childhood Cognitive Development

Students examine ways in which children construct knowledge about physical, social, and intellectual worlds. Considers contributions of Piagetian theory and other cognitive theories to the understanding of how children learn and the resulting programs which emphasize an active learning base, including the metacognition function of teaching thinking skills.

Earners must complete: ECED 5713 with a grade of B or better.

SLO 1. Articulate orally and in writing the assumptions of the theories.

SLO 2. State the significant differences in theoretical positions on development and learning.

SLO 4. Critically read journal articles.
