Entrepreneurial Mindset: Participants are introduced to each other, NFTE, and the Entrepreneurial Mindset. An entrepreneurial mindset is a set of skills that enable people to identify and make the most of opportunities, overcome and learn from setbacks, and succeed in a variety of settings. Research shows that an entrepreneurial mindset is valued by employers, boosts educational attainment and performance, and is crucial for creating new businesses.

Pedagogy and BizCamp Content: Participants are introduced to NFTE’s core pedagogical components and tools. They will understand how the curriculum is structured utilizing a Build-Measure-Learn model and organized within an online learning management system that facilitates for blended or offline instruction.

Design Thinking: Participants complete exercises to understand human-centered design, including design evaluation. They will apply this to identify a business opportunity of their own that they will build throughout the remainder of the training.

The Lean Startup: Participants are introduced to the Lean Startup Methodology by Eric Ries and the Lean Business Model Canvas. This is an approach to business development that values a business' ability to change. Lean startups shorten their product development cycles by adopting a combination of business-hypothesis-driven experimentation, iterative product releases, and validated learning.

Business Pitch: Participants will implement the elements of a business pitch and business plan presentation deck. They will practice pitching by refining their own business ideas and discussing teaching methods to support students as they develop their pitches.
