Through non-threatening, holistic assessment practices, modified communication techniques, inclusive engagement strategies, & environmental adaptation, they can partner therapeutically with individuals living with dementia to drive routines & programs for maximum motivation & engagement.

Earning Criteria

Attest to one year of healthcare related professional experience at time of registration.
Attest to one year of dementia related professional experience at time of registration.
Complete four hours of live, interactive Dementia Engagement Specialist Training Day One.
Complete four hours of live, interactive Dementia Engagement Specialist Training Day Two.
Complete extension activity from Day One: Applying Communication Techniques.
Completion of post test. Individuals who complete the course requirements are eligible for issuance of the digital badge through National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification® (NCTRC®) . We partner with NCTRC to offer digital badges for NCTRC approved micro-credentials, reflecting NCTRC pre-approved continuing education content aligned with NCTRC Standards and the Job Analysis.
