Python Basics for Analytics
Issued by
North Carolina State Executive Education
Program participants develop foundational Python knowledge and skills to transition and augment existing analytic skillsets. Badge earners can speak with more fluency about Python programming language and syntax, and can communicate more confidently with Data Science professionals about the use of Python to improve analytic outcomes. They can complete data-related tasks by extracting valuable insights from data through slice-and-dicing and filtering regions-of-interest from complex datasets.

Earning Criteria
-
Over the course of 6 weeks, complete 4 blended learning modules. These modules leverage fixed course content and instructor videos with instructor-led live sessions and applied projects. Learning objectives include: studying Python as object-oriented language; understanding conditionals and iterators; and, developing the skills necessary to index, slice and stride data.
-
Participants must complete 4 projects, each requiring the use of analytic tools to extract valuable insights from data and apply the knowledge and skills developed in each session. Projects include: (1) Create a WordCloud for given data using Jupyter Notebook (2) Use Python conditionals to filter ROIs 3) Understand applications of preprocessing and looping over data 4) Find Palindromes from data using indexing, slicing, and striding techniques.
