Earners of the Innovation Leaders badge have successfully completed a six-day, two-module program on innovation and learned skills for identifying and developing a proposed opportunity for business growth through analytics and enhanced leadership capabilities. As part of the consortium model, participants engaged with peers at other organizations to share and learn best practices in innovation.

Earning Criteria

Attend and participate in Module 1 of the Innovation Leadership Consortium, with session topics covering strategic innovation, market/customer analysis, data science tools for innovators, leading 21st century teams, design thinking and developing a value proposition.

Participants are required to work in teams during the intersession between Module 1 & 2 to gather and analyze data based on a previously identified business opportunity. The team project will require demonstrating skills in effective team formation and teamwork behavior, influencing others in the organization, use of data analytic tools and preparation of a presentation on the business value of the selected approach to the opportunity (plus alternatives considered).

Attend and participate in Module 2 of the Innovation Leadership Consortium, with session topics covering business case workshop, organizational influences on innovation, leading innovation/change, and leadership skills for innovators. This module also includes an optional learning expedition to a local organization with a strong emphasis on innovation.

Participants are required to complete their project in teams after Module 2. Their projects must provide guidance to senior leaders on how the proposed business model would be launched in the organization, potential challenges that could be faced, resources required, and expected benefit. Presenters are expected to use skills learned in Module 2 to recognize cultural influences, investment decision-making processes, organizational change processes, and awareness of senior leader influences on
