Earners of the Gender-Sensitive Training for Inclusive Placemaking Micro-credential have developed a foundational understanding of gender-sensitive issues and some tools to advocate. Participants have an understanding of the social issues faced by women and gender-diverse people, and how these impact the creation of, maintenance and re-design of public spaces. And, consequently how the application of evidence-based research can create safer and more inclusive public spaces.

Earning Criteria

Complete the course materials. This micro-credential course requires completion of six modules: Introduction And Key Concepts for Gender-Sensitive Placemaking, Understanding Gender, Safety and Urban Placemaking, Questioning the Idea of a Generic User in Placemaking, Applying Gender-Sensitive Placemaking Lens and Identifying Strategies One and Two, and Advocating for Gender-Sensitive Placemaking.

Pass Assessment One. This assessment requires the production of a folio that documents the weekly thematics, activities and reflections undertaken and clearly communicates the processes of exploration, evidence-based research, gender-sensitive placemaking strategies, and design-thinking skills.

Pass Assessment Two. This assessment requires the completion of two components: the recording of a short presentation that critically explores the process and application of gender-sensitive placemaking strategies; and a strategic advocacy statement championing gender-sensitive placemaking agendas in professional practice. This involves investigating identifying issues and opportunities to implement evidence-based knowledge of gender-sensitive placemaking within the public sector.
