Earning Criteria

• Earners have actively participated in an interactive, lecture-style workshop introducing them to the basics of intellectual property rights. They have explored the structure of patent applications and how these are used in intellectual property law by unpacking real-world examples.
• Earners have worked together to prototype a medical device using LittleBits STEAM+ Coding Kits. Following their creation, they have drafted a set of patent claims to protect their novel and inventive device from the risk of intellectual property theft.
• Throughout the course of the program, Earners have gained an understanding of the importance and place of intellectual property rights in the science, medical, and engineering fields. They have interacted and engaged with leading intellectual property professionals in a corporate environment, and have explored numerous pathways into the industry. Earners have displayed professionalism during interactions with industry professionals.
