Stock Pitching & Valuation: Girard School of Business

This four-week program teaches all of the necessities of pitching a stock as well as forecasting a company’s growth. The Merrimack College Stock Pitching and Valuation Badge requires a minimum of 6 hours of training completed over a series of four workshops. Participants will use programs like Bloomberg and Capital IQ to conduct research about a public company to build a completed stock pitch by the end of the workshop series.

Earning Criteria

Participants complete a 1.5 hour training on sector, industry, and company analysis. Participants develop the beginning of their company investment pitch, focusing on descriptions, outlooks, and risks. Participants begin to identify the sources they will be using for their research throughout the workshop.

Participants complete a 1.5 hour workshop on competitor analysis and create performance graphs on their company. Participants learn the most important numerical metrics to use for specific sectors. Participants create a competitive analysis table for their company and its competitors. Participants formulate a thesis for their pitch and assess why their company is a good and suitable investment.

Participants complete a 1.5 hour workshop on utilizing valuation models in Excel. At the conclusion of this workshop participants will have a completed Discounted Cash Flow Model and Dividend Growth Model (if applicable) for their company.

Participants complete a 1.5 hour workshop on finalizing their company investment pitch. Participants discover and develop the specific details that should be in the pitch such as (logos, page numbers, fonts, text sizes, etc.) and the formal presenting tips for them to present their pitch sometime in the future. Participants must upload their completed pitches (with speaker notes) to a shared Google Drive folder by the end of this workshop.
