The Certified Management Consultant designation (CMC) is the preeminent globally recognised professional designation for management consultants. Certified Management Consultants are Professional Members of the institute and may use the postnominals 'MIMCNZ' in addition to 'CMC'. CMC is awarded under licence from The International Council of Management Consulting Institutes - a global network of over 50 national and regional management consulting associations.

Earning Criteria

Must be an active Professional Member of IMCNZ.

To be eligible for Certified Management Consultant: Must be a current management consultant with a minimum of 3 years professional experience in management consulting.

Commitment to adhere to the IMCNZ Code of Professional Conduct, and ongoing professional development.

To be eligible for Certified Management Consultant: Recognised degree or professional qualification (alternatively additional professional consulting experience can be considered)

To be eligible for Certified Management Consultant: Assessment against the IMCNZ competency framework and body of knowledge.

To be eligible for Certified Management Consultant: 3 case studies and professional references of suitable quality.
Standards
ICMCI maintains the CMC® Certification Standard which includes 6 functional areas of organizational management; ethical practice; consulting processes; transformation & change; communications; project management; and a Code of Conduct ensuring CMC's serve the interest of their clients, society, their organisation & colleagues, and the profession.
ISO/IEC 17024:2012 contains principles and requirements for a body certifying persons against specific requirements, and includes the development and maintenance of a certification scheme for persons.
ISO 20700:2017 provides guidelines for the effective delivery of management consultancy services.
