Mediation Skills - North East Regional Employers

Mediation Skills is an ILM Recognised programme of learning, created and delivered by North East Regional Employers for participants who are in a position to carry out mediation. The programme develops knowledge and skills by understanding how to manage own feelings, assumptions and to interact constructively and to response conflict. They have interacted in case studies and role play activities. The participant has completed assessments and conducted a live mediation to complete the programme.

  • Developed strategies to understand and awareness of feelings and patterns of behaviour and appreciate the use of mediation for constructive conflict resolution
  • Developed skills, behaviours and knowledge for constructive mediation and enhanced own competence to understand and use the process of mediation.
  • Developed skills and strategies for active listening, communication and building a rapport with disputants.
  • Developed strategies and techniques to work impartially to empower disputants through face to face mediation to resolve disputes themselves and to negotiate mutually acceptable agreements.
  • Developed strategies for working with opportunities and difficulties that may result from the diversity and lifestyles within organisations.
