The programme develops knowledge and skills in Coaching, enabling learners to maximise their team's performance using a coaching approach. Learners develop recognised coaching techniques and improve using coaching practice, feedback and reflection.

Describe the role of coaching in maximising individual performance This learning outcome is covered throughout the programme but is predominantly focused on in session 1, where learners will explore what coaching is, particularly in relation to other techniques such as mentoring, and how different levels of coaching can be utilised effectively dependent on individual abilities and motivations, thus improving performance. This learning outcome specifically maps to the ILM footprint of Coaching.

Explain what it takes to be an effective coach and identify key roles and responsibilities This learnin outcome is covered in the first session, where learners will explore the role of the coach and how coaches support their coachees. Roles & responsibilities, particularly in the context of contracting, are covered in depth to ensure learners understand the professionalism needed in a coaching relationship. This learning outcome specifically maps to the ILM footprint of Coaching.

Describe a recognised coaching model and how different tools and techniques can be used to support it. This outcome is initially covered in the first session where learners are introduced to the GROW model. This knowledge is then built on in session 2 where there is further focus on communication skills around questioning and listening. This learning outcome specifically maps to the ILM footprint of Coaching.

Demonstrate coaching skills and receive feedback to support development This learning outcome is covered throughout the programme as learners meet the course requirement of their practice coaching sessions in between each workshop, and reflect on their experiences through both their journal entries and via discussion and feedback in the subsequent workshop. This learning outcome specifically maps to the ILM footprint of Coaching.

Reflect on and analyse own coaching capability and identify how to improve. This learning outcome is covered throughout the programme as learners use their journal entries (and feedback) to reflect and improve. The third session of the programme explores this in depth with learners understanding techniques to evaluate the success of coaching and also working on challenging limiting beliefs. This learning outcome specifically maps to the ILM footprint of Coaching.
