This is the initial year of a four-year course of instruction and field study to produce technically competent professional electricians with Journeyman status (or its equivalency).

The methods of assessment include quizzes, examinations, written papers, presentations, and performance rubrics (checklists) with a minimum passing score of 70 percent.

The methods of instruction include audiovisual materials, practical exercises, discussion, learner presentations, classroom exercises, laboratory, lectures, and computer-based training.
