Community Engagement II

Community engagement involves working with social services or other community-based organizations in support of their mission or mandate. Earners have earned Community Engagement I badge and cannot work with the same organization to earn this badge. Earners of this badge have selected an organization to support, identified and documented that organization’s mission and/or mandate, and have volunteered twenty to thirty hours to that organization in support of its mission and/or mandate.

Earning Criteria

  • Identify a social service and/or community-based organization with which to engage, review and documenting that organization’s mission statement or public-facing mandates, communicate with that organization to establish volunteer efforts, fulfill those efforts, and then document those efforts with a short, descriptive essay that recognizes the value of the recipient’s community engagement efforts to the organization and also to social groups that benefit from the organization’s efforts.
