Earners of the HVAC SAFETY STANDARDS certification developed the necessary working knowledge to comply with industry safety standards in the HVAC work environment. Competencies achieved include proper and safe use of power testing instrumentation, appropriate PPE while performing HVAC-related duties, use of isolation valves and procedures to minimize exposure to chemical refrigerants, and proper procedures during the use of standard equipment and tools used in the industry.

Earning Criteria

Candidates complete 160 hours of HVAC/R technology theory of operation, hands-on practical training, multiple Performance Profile Assessments and industry safety training. Resulting credentials include HCC Certificate for LEVEL ONE and LEVEL TWO Air Conditioning Technician Trainee, EPA 608 Certification, and OSHA-10 Certification. Skills developed requiring safety training include refrigerant charging, evacuation, recovery, leak testing, nitrogen purging, and electrical measurement.
