The course covers the sound system of English, intonation, stress and rhythm. Students are encouraged to participate in pair and group work. By the end of the course, students should be able to identify and produce English vowel and consonant sounds accurately; Discover the pronunciation of words in a dictionary using the International Phonetic Alphabet; Use word and sentence stress appropriately; Use English intonation confidently.
