Earners of the HETS Learning Technologies Leadership badge have demonstrated leadership-level competencies in educational technology, online learning, instructional design, management, administration, and quality assurance. This badge highlights their dedication to fostering the adoption and promotion of teaching and learning technologies as well as their capacity to emerge as the next generation of leaders for Hispanic Serving Institutions.

Earning Criteria

To earn this badge, participants of the HETS Academic Technology must attend and actively participate in all online sessions through the 4 days of training, in a total of 24 hours. These sessions cover key topics, including Learning Technologies, Quality Assurance, Instructional Design, and Project Management.

To be selected and complete the Academy, participants must submit a document describing a project to implement at their campus or organization, along with the name of a mentor of their preference. The project is discussed during the Academy sessions to apply the key topics discussed, and receive feedback and recommendations from the faculty and peers.

Participants are required to complete a pre and post test covering key topics: Academic Technology, Online Learning, Instructional/ Curriculum Design, Teaching and Learning, Project Management, Administration and Quality, Professional Development, and Data for Digital Learning. This assessment is a requirement to pass and to grant the continuing education certificate.
