Introduction to the Paramedic Practitioner

Paramedics are employed in a wide range of clinical settings and regularly encounter non-emergency patients. Learners have completed 150 hours of learning (lectures, practicals, assessments), and have demonstrated the attitudes, knowledge and skills required to examine and manage non-emergency patients. They are able to establish the factors contributing to clinical and nonclinical problems impacting the patient and assess the risks, prioritise problems and formulate collaborative care plans.

Earning Criteria

Earners have worked through the content of each week/topic and where necessary videod themselves performing patient assessment tasks for review by the convener where feedback was provided.

Earners have completed a written assignment to consider, identify and establish alternative treatment pathways for a non-emergency patient cohort within the geographical area in which they work.

Earners have completed 3 practice-based assignment via video of a specific body system e.g. cardiovascular system or respiratory system or neurological system etc.
