Earners have completed a 3-day On-Country First Nations Cultural Immersion program and introduction to a working knowledge and understanding of fundamental Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing, being, and doing. Through a series of practical activities, earners demonstrated the capacity to apply such knowledge and understanding into their daily work, using simple strategies to effectively gain awareness of the application of First Nations Systems Knowledges and methodologies.

Earning Criteria

Earners have attended and completed the 3-day intensive First Nations On-Country Cultural Immersion Tour

Earners have gained an introductory understanding of the historic and contemporary environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Earners have gained an introductory knowledge and understanding of fundamental Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing, being, and doing based upon the Riteways First Nations Knowledges model.

Earners have the capacity to apply such knowledge and understanding into their daily work, using simple strategies such as connection before content, cultural greetings, and the importance of making time to strengthen and nurture relationships to gain the best outcomes established upon trust.

Earners have gained awareness of the differences in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of being and through awareness, establish a capacity to apply respectful fundamental First Nations Knowledges.

Earners have an introductory understanding and recognition of First Nations methodologies.

Earners have successfully completed the required applied engagement activities as part of the practice-based assignment including presentation exercises and Yarning Circles.
