In addition, earners of this badge understand that effective writing is discipline-specific, occurring in a variety of contexts for diverse audiences and purposes. Earners are competent in navigating the writing conventions and expectations of their chosen disciplinary areas.

Earning Criteria

  • Successful completion of assessments where learners demonstrate essential writing competencies and skills such as professional writing, genre analysis and self-editing within their discipline/profession.
  • Successful completion of related module quizzes, addressing the learner's understanding of module content.
  • Successful completion of a final project where learners demonstrate essential writing practices within their discipline/profession.
  • Successful completion of a reflection paper where learners demonstrate how the competencies gained can be utilized to further personal, professional and/or academic goals.
