Applying the Butterfly Effect to Understand History

Developed within the Fi-Sci Institute, this badge recognizes fundamental knowledge of the butterfly effect in its scientific context. Earners will understand the ways creative writers, historians, and other social scientists use the butterfly effect theory to explain the ripple effects of ostensibly small acts of resistance. Earners also will recognize the butterfly effect as a frame for understanding the long-term and often critical impact of politicized discourse.
