Initial Tower Cab Training (50046) v5

The course teaches basic ATC knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform in a level 5-9 ATC Tower Cab. Students receive laboratory instruction and practice in the Table Top, Tower 3D, and Tower Simulation System (TSS) laboratories. Students that successfully complete the course are placed in these facilities throughout the country in order to complete their training to become a Certified Professional Controller (CPC). Prerequisites: 50043, Air Traffic Basics, or direct entry qualifications.

Earning Criteria

The methods of assessment include quizzes, examinations, performance rubrics (checklists), and an evaluated air traffic scenario performed in the Tower Simulation System (TSS) with a minimum passing score of 70 percent.

The methods of instruction include audio visual materials, practical exercises, discussion, case studies, classroom exercises, laboratory, lecture, and computer-based training.
