Earners of this badge have passed two rigorous exams. The core exam covers basics of entomology. The medical/veterinary entomology specialty exam covers entomology relating to arthropods of medical/veterinary importance. Based on their work experience and references, badgeholders represent a truly dedicated subset of professional entomologists. In addition to the exam, they agree to adhere to a Code of Ethics and continuously improve their knowledge through continuing education.

Earning Criteria

All BCEs must have at least a bachelor's degree in entomology or a closely related scientific field.

All BCEs must combine either a bachelor's degree and three years of post-graduate work experience, a master's degree and two years of post-graduate work experience, or a Ph.D. and one year of post-graduate work experience.
