The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award – Silver Level
The badge earner has completed the Silver Level of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. In using The Duke of Ed Framework, they have demonstrated commitment to personal development through learning a skill, improving physical well-being, volunteering in the community, and actively participating in a team-based adventure. The Duke of Ed accredits non-formal education to showcase a young person’s interests and attributes, supporting further education and career goals.

Earning Criteria

The Duke of Ed adds value by incorporating individual goal setting, mentorship by subject-matter experts, logging of effort and reflection, and regular participation over a set duration (Silver Level = 6 months minimum).

The Silver Level of the Duke of Ed can be started at age 15 or older; earlier if the Duke of Ed User has completed the Bronze Level before age 15.

Physical Recreation must be undertaken for a minimum of 6 months, with an average commitment of one hour per week.

Skill development should be undertaken for a minimum of 6 months, with an average commitment of one hour per week.

Voluntary service should be conducted for a minimum of 6 months, with an average commitment of one hour per week.

Engage in a three-day and two-night Adventurous Journey. Each journey encompasses: 1. Preparation and Training, 2. Practice Journey, 3. Qualifying Journey.

Direct entrants (i.e. have not completed Bronze Level) are required to complete an extra 6 months in one of the following areas: Physical Recreation, Skills, or Voluntary Service.
