Earning Criteria

Through a closed book assessment, the learner showed an understanding of human respiratory physiology and patient ventilation, modes/types of mechanical ventilation, medical gas handling and safety including the pipeline system, the requirement for anaesthesia, and recognized the hazards associated with the handling of anaesthesia agents.

Through practical assessments conducted throughout the course the learner showed an understanding of how to perform maintenance, safety testing, and performance testing on patient ventilators, respiratory humidifiers, ventilators, and anaesthetic equipment and associated equipment using the appropriate test equipment.
