Earning Criteria

This person has met all assessment criteria from the following units: teaching my subject, teachers and teaching, learners and learning, professional practice, effective digital and online pedagogies, action research, coaching and mentoring, managing behaviour.This person has completed a portfolio of professional practice, all mandatory assignments, a minimum of 10 observations of practice within two teaching placements and a summative viva.

This person understands how to teach their own subject, including: particular approaches to topic sequencing; pedagogic content knowledge; threshold concepts and troublesome knowledge; required wider/prerequisite knowledge; measuring and maintaining their own subject currency.

This person understands their own learners, including:how to get to know their own learners; the support needs of their own learners; the importance of safeguarding and EDI.

This person understands the role of the teacher, including: what makes a good teacher; working with and learning from others; sources of support.This person understands how to teach, including: taking a person-centred approach; curriculum; planning and delivering sessions (including embedding English, mathematics and digital skills); offering individual support; expectations of learners; different types of delivery, assessment and feedback; how to reflect and evaluate.
