• This learner can: define individual medical word parts, identify medical terms derived from the medical word parts, define medical terminology relating to the human body, define medical terminology relating to diagnostic departments, identify medical abbreviations relating to diagnostic tests
• This learner can: define terminology relating to specialist medical areas, identify the meaning of pharmaceutical abbreviations, describe individual classifications of medicines,  identify the meaning of abbreviations relating to medical qualifications
• This learner can: explain the skills and qualities required of the medical administrator, describe the range of duties carried out by the medical administrator, explain the importance of accountability when handling cash, describe the process of organising a meeting, describe the additional responsibilities of the medical administrator in private practice
• This learner can: explain the different types of hospital admission, describe the procedures involved in making new and follow-up appointments, evaluate different types of appointment systems in primary care, describe the procedures for registering new and temporary patients in a general practice, explain the circumstances under which a patient can be removed from the practice list, describe patient discharge procedures, describe the procedures that must be followed when a patient dies.

• This learner can: follow written instructions and standard printers’ correction signs to edit text, recall specified documents and edit text as instructed, recall and modify a table within a document, interpret implied and explicit instructions, complete work within set timescales, create standard medical documents from handwritten or typewritten drafts, insert merge codes into the standard document, combine and merge information, print selections of merged documents.
• This learner can: check documents for accuracy, identify and correct errors in medical documents, select appropriate methods to check documents before printing, produce screen shots, print labels, print final copies of documents as instructed.
• This learner can: create and name folders, create and save documents in named folders, recall, rename and save documents in named folders, recall files containing recorded speech for transcribing, key in information from recorded speech and written instructions, locate and key in information from another source, select stationery appropriate for document type, manipulate the functions of audio software and equipment to transcribe documents
