This qualification develops the specific knowledge and understanding needed to work in the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering sector as an effective Machinist. It develops the knowledge and general machining skills required as part of the Machining Technician apprenticeship and supports progression to end point assessment. This person has achieved the Pass criteria of the Level 3 Diploma in Machining.

This person working in a machining role understands operational procedures, statutory legislation, environmental regulations and health and safety requirements. They understand planning and can interpret a range of data including job instructions, engineering drawings and specifications. They will be familiar with a range of machining, fitting and assembly techniques and with new technologies within the engineering sector.

This person understands engineering materials and can apply mathematical methods to design and manufacture complex components and effective products. They have good communication and problem-solving skills.
