It develops the knowledge and general machining skills required as part of the Machining Technician apprenticeship and supports progression to end point assessment. Earning Criteria

  • This person has achieved the Merit criteria of the Level 3 Diploma in Machining.
  • This person working in a machining role understands operational procedures, statutory legislation, environmental regulations and health and safety requirements. They understand planning and can interpret a range of data including job instructions, engineering drawings and specifications. They will be familiar with a range of machining, fitting and assembly techniques and with new technologies within the engineering sector.
  • This person understands engineering materials and can apply mathematical methods to design and manufacture complex components and effective products. They have good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • As this qualification contains a range of optional units, this person is able to demonstrate a mix of knowledge from the following areas:
