Level 3 Certificate in Inspecting Licensable Activities involving Animals - 0169-03
This qualification is for Animal Health Inspectors and those inspecting animal establishments on behalf of Local Authorities. It is aimed at those involved in inspection roles relating to establishments selling pets, boarding and breeding establishments and inspections of animals and transport used in exhibitions. (Ofqual Qualification Number:603/6590/0 and City & Guilds Qualification Number 0169-03)
This person understands the legal requirements relating to animal inspections including animal welfare, licensing, health and safety and transport. They understand the job role and powers of an authorised inspector including the inspection process, record keeping, documenting findings from inspections and the feedback process to the license holder.
This person understands husbandry and diseases and disorders of common pet store species and the welfare of dogs and cats in boarding and breeding establishments. They understand the monitoring and reporting process for animal accommodation and husbandry and are familiar with moral, ethical and sociocultural issues surrounding animal establishments.
This person understands the welfare conditions for animals being transported and used for exhibition purposes including the scope of animal exhibits, registration, accommodation and transport requirements. They understand dangerous wild animal licensing, its impact on the animals and the risks to public safety in using wild animals.
