Earning Criteria

• This individual has achieved unit 301 Principles of health and safety. They are able to: Understand health and safety legislation, understand the risk assessment process, understand first aid requirements, understand principles of safe manual handling, understand the use of fire extinguishers.
• This individual has achieved unit 302 Undertake and review work related experience in the land based industries. They are able to: Determine employment opportunities in the environmental and land based industries, prepare for a work-based experience in the environmental and land based industry, understand the importance of effective interpersonal skills in the workplace, review a work-based experience in the environmental and land based sector.
• This individual has achieved unit 303 Land based industry machinery operations. They are able to: Understand the purpose and operation of land based industry machinery, prepare land based industry machinery for work, operate land based industry machinery.
• This individual has achieved unit 304 Agricultural crop production. They are able to: Know how to establish crops for given markets, plan the nutrition of crops, understand control measures for weeds, pests and diseases, understand harvest and storage losses and production costs.
• This individual has achieved unit 305 Plant and soil science. They are able to: Understand the function of plant structures, understand the main processes of plant physiology, growth and development, understand how soils affect plant growth and development.
• This individual has achieved unit 306 Undertake estate skills. They are able to: Construct, repair or maintain boundaries, construct, repair or maintain structures, construct, repair or maintain surfaces, carry out practical habitat management work.
• This individual has achieved unit 307 Livestock husbandry. They are able to: Carry out beef husbandry activities, carry out dairy husbandry activities , carry out pig husbandry activities, carry out sheep husbandry activities.
• This individual has achieved unit 308 Business management in the Land-Based sector. They are able to: Understand the breadth and importance of an industry in the land-based sector, understand business resources and structures, understand the business marketplace, understand how to use financial and physical record keeping systems.
• This individual has achieved unit 309 Undertake a specialist project in the Land-Based sector. They are able to: Develop proposals for specialist projects, plan for specialist projects, carry out specialist projects, evaluate specialist projects.
• This individual has achieved unit 310 Land-based power units. They are able to: Understand the functions of key components found in land-based power units, know the key features of land-based machines and power units, undertake routine maintenance of land-based machines and power units, understand the applications of land-based machines and power units.
• This individual has achieved unit 318 Undertake land based workshop processes. They are able to: Understand the importance of health and safety and safe working practices within a workshop environment, use hand tools, joining and cutting equipment, use materials for given purposes, maintain, replace or repair worn or broken components on land-based equipment.
• Optional – Learners must be taught at least 480 GLH from units 311-312, 314-317, 324-333, 335- 336. 240 GLH must be from 327-333.
