This qualification is aimed at learners who are new to the industry and have little or no experience of hairdressing and barbering. You are looking to be a Hairdressing Assistant. The Learner will have completed four mandatory units at Level 1 and a number of optional units. Suitable for learners aged 16 and over. Ofqual Qualification No: 601/5909/1
Earning Criteria

The learners can prepare and maintain the work area for hair service. They know how health and safety policies and procedures affect the maintenance of work areas and they know how to prepare and maintain the work area for hair services.

They are able to develop working relationships with clients and colleagues and plan for self-development within job role. They know the key factors that contribute to effective working relationships.

The learners are able to blow dry hair. They know how health and safety policies and procedures affect blow drying services and the science of blow drying hair.

The learners maybe able to assist with hair relaxing services. They know how health and safety policies and procedures affect the hair relaxing services and understand how to assist in the hair relaxing service.

They may be able to assist with salon reception duties, may know the salon and legal requirements for assisting with reception duties and may understand the importance of effective communication. and may know the salon services and products.

They maybe able to assist with hair colouring and lightening services. They may know how health and safety policies and procedures affect hair colouring and lightening services and how to remove colouring and lightening products.

They maybe able to plait and twist hair using basic techniques. They may know how health and safety polices and procedures affect plaiting and twisting services and know the factors that influence plaiting and twisting services, the tools, equipment, products and basic techniques used to plait and twist hair.

They maybe able to assist with the hair perming and neutralising services. They may know how health and safety policies and procedures affect the perming and neutralising services and understand the hair neutralising process.

They maybe able to remove hair extensions. They may know how health and safety polices and procedures affect hair extension removal services and the factors that influence the removal of hair extensions, the tools, equipment, products and techniques used to remove hair extensions .
