Earning Criteria

  • This person can say the names of the letters of the alphabet; identify and extract main information from short statements/explanations; follow single-step instructions and ask for them to be repeated; make requests, ask straightforward questions; respond to questions about specific information; make clear statements about basic information; communicate feelings/opinions on straightforward topics; understand/participate in simple discussions/exchanges with a person on a straightforward topic
  • This person can read simple texts that inform, describe and narrate. They can read words correctly designated for Entry Level 1; read simple sentences containing one clause; understand a short piece of text on a simple subject
  • This person can compose short simple texts, such as messages and notes. They can communicate information in writing using words, phrases and simple sentences. They can punctuate simple sentences with a capital letter and a full stop; use a capital letter for the personal pronoun ‘I’ and the first letter of proper nouns; use lower-case letters when there is no reason to use capital letters; write the letters of the alphabet in sequence and in both upper and lower case; spell words correctly
