The purpose of the CHAP programme is to develop senior / care assistants with a period of extensive training and competency assessments, enabling them to provide care and clinical interventions under supervision of a Registered Nurse. This will enable individuals to have the skills and knowledge to be accountable for safe and effective practice They will be able to provide leadership skills, improve the quality of care delivered and escalate any risks to patient safety or health.

This individual has the skills and knowledge required to provide effective practice with regards Clinical skills and Documentation and knows when to refer to the Registered Nurse within their role. They understand the need for leadership skills, how to complete their personal development reviews with SMART actions, give and receive feedback, key coaching skills, time management and delegation skills.

This individual has successfully passed a theory and practical assessment to demonstrate their competency in clinical practice. They have demonstrated best clinical practice within the workplace and at an assessment centre. They have passed a theory assessment in the key skills of leading a team.
