Earning Criteria

This young person has taken part in a volunteering placement at PYF where they talk through with a youth worker what to expect at the volunteering. They then support and lead on the delivery of a youth intervention or take part in a social action programme.

This young person has completed a minimum of 20 hours in a volunteering placement.

This young person has taken part in a ‘debrief’ about the volunteering experience and what they found out. They reviewed their progress, achievements and how they can use this for their own professional development.

Assessment for this badge is based on a checklist relating to the young person’s volunteering and the skills that were gained. For example:

The young person attended a formal interview process to secure their volunteering placement.

The young person completed a minimum of 20 hours in a PYF volunteering placement.

The young person provided evidence that the volunteering helped them develop the 4 skills listed above.

The young person described the volunteering and what they liked/ disliked about it.

Overall, the young person reflected on the volunteering experience, what they learned and how it has helped them develop.
