The A1 level, or Beginner French, equips learners to handle basic communication. At this stage, individuals can understand and use familiar words and simple phrases for everyday needs, such as personal details and immediate surroundings. They can participate in basic conversations, asking and answering questions about where they live and familiar people. They can also describe themselves and their environment simply.

Earning Criteria

Understanding: Can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type.

Speaking: Can introduce themselves and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where they live, people they know, and things they have.

Writing: Can write short, simple notes and messages relating to matters in areas of immediate needs.

Passed with Honours are conferred upon students who have achieved a grade of between 90-100% which takes into account all homework and a final formal assessment.

This program provides solid theoretical and practical training in French as a second language which allows the student to acquire the interaction skills necessary for their professional development.
