Earning Criteria

• The student will be able to: 1) Identify, by common or Latin names, those given flower, foliage and potted plants used in commercial floristry.
• The student will be able to: 2) Recall the definition of each principle and element of design.
• The student will be able to: 3) Identify how each principle or element of design is created and used in floral design.
• The student will be able to: 4) Analyze & critique floral designs in order to determine proper use of the principles of design.
• The student will be able to: 5) Recall major aspects of color and color theory.
• The student will be able to: 6) Synthesize given information to be able to complete an assigned project of an oval centerpiece, hand wired bridal bouquet, foam bouquet holder, hand-tied bridal bouquet.
• The student will be able to: 7) Demonstrate proper wiring techniques for given flowers such as clutch wiring, cross-pierce wiring, hairpin wiring & insertion wiring.
• The student will be able to: 8) Determine and implement the most appropriate floral mechanic for completing any of the arrangements.
• The student will be able to: 9) Demonstrate the proper techniques for creating well developed principles and elements of design for the required arrangement.
• The student will be able to: 10) Analyze given parameters and information, then determine the appropriate style and design shape for complete the assigned design project.
• The student will be able to: 11) Identify the types of attaching, binding & foam mechanics and their application to professional floral design.
• The student will be able to: 12) Identify different types of flowers to wear and flowers to carry.
• The student will be able to: 13) Identify the different gauges of florist wire.
