Skills
Earning Criteria
-
Every student will be required to attend all eight learning workshops throughout the two year program. During each workshop, students have the opportunity to ask questions from members of the community in focus as well as healthcare providers who work with these populations. Following, a clinical skill is taught that pertains to the population (ie suicide assessments and the Veteran population), during which students are shown how to complete the skill and then asked to practice amongst peers.
-
Participate in eight learning workshops that each illustrate a unique underserved population through panel discussions, complex cases, and clinical skill education
-
Participate in at least 10 service activities on small interprofessional teams, each service activity covering a unique healthcare education topic and encouraging patient interaction when available
-
Assist in leading and developing one specific service activity in the second year of the program, during which the activity will be offered multiple times at different locations with various teams
-
Complete reflections on each service activity and learning workshop attended, commenting specifically on what new information was learned, what can be applied to practice moving forward, and what portions that were not helpful
