Probability for Data Science
Issued by
Binghamton University
The badge earner is able to describe the probability concepts: mean, variance, conditional probability, Bayes rule and statistical independence and compute the mean and variance of random variables. The earner is able to describe discrete and continuous distributions such as geometric, binomial, Poisson, uniform, exponential and normal and can compute the derive properties of functions of random variables and understand how real-world phenomena can be modeled using probability distributions.

Earning Criteria
-
This course is open to all engineers, professionals, faculty, and college-level students.
-
This is a self-paced, online course that will require 15-20 hours to complete and introduces probability concepts essential for understanding data science, machine learning, and system modeling. Learners begin with foundational probability theory before progressing to discrete and continuous random variables. Includes self-assessment quizzes (not graded) and a final exam (graded).
-
To earn this credential, the learner must pass the final exam.
