The earner of this badge has developed the ability to understand Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) definitions, terminology, and basic rules, and can explain the general dimensioning concepts. The earner is able to describe the symbology and datums used in GD&T drawings and discuss the effects of various application options on GD&T. Further, the earner can calculate critical values using GD&T, read a GD&T drawing, and begin applying it to actual designs.

This course is open to all engineers, professionals, faculty, and college-level students.

This is a one-day, in-person course that will require 8 hours to complete and introduces learners to the fundamentals of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) based on the ASME Y14.5-2018 standard. Participants will learn to read and interpret GD&T drawings, calculate critical values, and understand how different application options affect design, manufacturing, and inspection processes. Course also includes an optional, graded final exam.
