Foundations of Community Engagement

The Foundations of Community Engagement badge program is offered through the Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) and provides a structure for students to develop the knowledge, skills, and experiences to succeed as current and future community leaders. Students will complete a series of self-paced modules and activities and will complete 10 hours of community service.

Earning Criteria

This credential is open to current Binghamton University students.

This is a self-paced credential and will take approximately 20 hours to complete.

To earn this credential, the learner must watch 2 foundational videos; complete 10 volunteer hours and submit a 100-300 word reflection; complete 2 of the following - conduct an informational interview, attend a campus/community event, complete a windshield/walking survey, read a community needs and assets report, read 5 articles from local Broome County news sources - and submit a 100-300 word reflection for each; submit a final reflection; meet with a CCE staff member.
