Earning Criteria

• Earner has attended a Smart Citizens Programme event, developing their understanding of Fab Labs (fabrication laboratories) and digitally-enabled design and manufacturing processes.
• Earner has developed an introductory understanding of subtractive manufacturing processes. These are processes where material is removed, such as laser cutting and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining.
• Earner has developed an introductory understanding of additive manufacturing processes. These are processes where material is added in layers, such as 3D printers.
• Earner has developed an introductory understanding of 3D scanning, and how scans can be used to create 3D digital designs.
• Earner has learnt about computer aided design (CAD), and the different softwares that are available.
• Earner has gained a basic understanding of the different machines available at Fab Lab Plymouth, how they operate, and the different materials that can be used.
• Earner has learnt how they can access Fab Lab Plymouth and use digitally-enabled processes within their own practice.
• This badge is open to all.
