Issued by
Badge Nation
This Government funded Hinkley Point Support Operative (Bronze) Skills Bootcamp was a 3 week programme providing earners embarking on their journey into the Engineering Construction Industry the necessary knowledge to work safely in the industry, and why working at (HPC) is different to other engineering construction projects. Earners also understand the Health & Safety expectations upon them as employees in the industry and have an overview of what it is like to work on the HPC Project.

Earner has a general awareness of the engineering construction industry and its opportunities as a career path. They understand what disciplines the engineering construction industry are made up of and understand opportunities available as career progression avenues within the engineering construction industry.
-
Earner has a clear understanding of Engineering Construction as a career path, and how this links into their work–life aspirations. They understand Engineering Construction roles and how their route into employment could work, including what opportunities may be available to them at HPC upon completion of the HSO Bronze Course. Earner has been introduced the Growth Mindset theory and how this will impact on achieving their aspirations.
-
Earner has a clear understanding of the HPC standards for behavioural and Health & Safety expectations through the completion of the HSO Bronze Course, within the structure of the 5 HPC Project Values; Respect, Humility, Positivity, Clarity, and Solidarity.
-
Earner has an understanding of why the HPC Project is different to other construction projects; what the Hinkley Point C Project is and what it is aiming to achieve, why nuclear is special, identified certain ways of working safely, and recognised the 5 areas that contribute to a strong safety culture.
-
Earner has been made aware how high safety standards impact ways of working and the impact on their daily working life. Earner understands HPC Project safety expectations including: drug and alcohol testing, identity checks, the onboarding process, travelling to site and the impact on the working day, security processes to enter and leave site, the nuclear safety culture, the Zero Harm safety ethos, travelling around site and the Covid Secure Site requirements including testing.
-
Earner has engaged with employer presentations and attended interviews with Tier One national employers, giving them a good understanding of employer expectations and enabling them to be safe and 'employment ready' for work at HPC and within the engineering construction industry.
-
Earner has learnt about the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) and the Nuclear Site Licence at HPC. They understand how Licence Conditions enable compliance on HPC.
