Earning Criteria

• Earner has participated in E Learning opportunities around welding and fabrication gaining sound knowledge of the basics of welding/fabrication, engineering materials and engineering information.
• Earner has learnt about material preparation, measuring and marking out to specification, as well as shaping components using hand tools and the safe use of power tools in a workshop environment.
• Earner has basic knowledge of metal fabrication techniques and processes as wel as basic welding processes including MIG and TIG. The earner has also been given an introduction to Orbital Welding and NDT, including welding inspection and quality processes.
• Earner has gained comprehensive understanding of the importance of health and safety, including, health and safety awareness, first aid legislation, theory and practical techniques, First Aid at Work training and Fire Awareness.
• Earner has demonstrated they are able to safely and effectively use the correct PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times when in the welding/fabrication workshop.
• Earner has successfully completed all written and in-class tests as well as practical work to a satisfactory level, demonstrating their sound knowledge of welding and fabrication.
