The OPMP certification validates competency to manage facility operations and maintenance to achieve building performance goals, including those related to indoor environmental quality, health and safety. The OPMP validates competency in these key areas: facility life cycle, management aspects, communications, and environmental, health and safety.

Earning Criteria

Submit a completed application and and pass OPMP Certification Exam. Overview of OPMP certification application eligibility requirements: Education and Work Experience, and Code of Ethics,
Meet one of four possible education requirements.
Meet one of four possible combinations of facility operations work experience.
Agree to uphold and abide by a Code of Ethics, the tenets of which include "exercise a reasonable industry standard of care in the performance of professional duties, hold paramount the health and safety of the public in the performance of professional duties, and work in a manner consistent with all applicable laws and regulations."
Pass a proctored, closed book/closed notes, two and one-half hour (2.5), 100-question, multiple-choice exam. The pass rate is 49%. The three cognitive levels tested on the OPMP exam are recall, application and analysis.
