Board Certification in Physical Rehabilitation (BCPR)
Earners of this certification have demonstrated specialized knowledge, critical thinking, and practice experience in occupational therapy focused on physical rehabilitation. Using an exam-based process, advanced certification provides an objective method to distinguish therapists with knowledge of current, evidence-based practice and commitment to continuing professional development in a specific area of practice.

Earning Criteria

Certified or licensed by and in good standing with an AOTA-recognized credentialing or regulatory body

Have a minimum of 3 years of experience as an occupational therapist

Have a minimum of 3,000 hours of experience in physical rehabilitation within the last 5 years

Have a minimum of 500 hours of experience delivering physical rehabilitation occupational therapy services to adult clients within the last 5 years

Note: Certificants who earned the BCPR credential prior to 2021 achieved it through a legacy portfolio-based process that has since been replaced by an exam-based process.
