Earning Criteria

Pass the CVFI credential exam
Complete the required pre-certification education
Conventional pathway - attest to meeting at least 3,000 hours of experience performing fair value estimates for financial instruments in the 5-year period preceding credential application
Experienced pathway - attest to meeting at least 6,000 hours of experience performing fair value estimates for financial instruments in the 10-year period preceding credential application
Member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants ("AICPA"), and subject to the AICPA's Code of Professional Conduct
To maintain the credential, individuals must complete 8-hours of financial instruments related continuing professional development (CPD) annually, comply with the Financial Instrument Performance Framework and participate in ongoing Quality Monitoring process
To maintain the credential, individuals must perform 1,500 hours of work related to fair value estimates for financial instruments every 5-year period
